Introducing Service Dogs UK
Service Dogs UK is the only accredited PTSD assistance dog charity in the UK. They provide Veterans from the Armed Forces and Emergency Services suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder the benefit of specially trained psychiatric assistance dogs.
Service Dogs UK are proud to help those who have served by providing them with a fully structured 9 month long training programme that they will complete with a specially selected dog from rescue. Service Dogs UK cover all the costs during the programme until they reach accreditation and begin a new journey as an accredited partnership.
The dogs that are rescued are carefully selected to help the Veterans. They train the dogs to the highest standard, being a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI). Once a rescue dog has completed their basic training and assessment, the Veteran will be training their own partnered dog for a period of 9 - 12 months under the guidance of professional dog trainers. Veterans who have competed the programme tell Service Dogs Uk that the programme is a life changer! - They are honoured to be able to change lives, two at a time!
As an organisation they actively wish to raise the awareness of the mental health danger of PTSD to the brave men and women on the front line, be it abroad or at home; in the military or emergency services. To check out their latest work visit their website www.servicedogsuk.org.
